Ibiza Island Info

Ibiza Island magnetic charm might centre around activities that involve the words 'plot' and 'lost' but it's always worth remembering a few pointers that will make your time here that little bit easier.

First up, if you're on the Ibiza island for more than a week, you and your mates should nab a Spanish sim-card at any Movistar shop. At just 6 euro a pop you'll save yourself a small fortune on those ridiculous 'we r on the terrace, where r u?' text tennis bouts.

Just be sure to take your passport down to the Movistar shop - you'll need this to purchase one - and don't forget to leave some credit on the sim when you leave. That way you can keep hold of it for next year.

Unless you're swimming in money, taxis are an unnecessary luxury - end of. It will cost you just 1.65 euro to get between Ibiza Town and San Antoni or Santa Eulalia by bus (rather than, say, 20 euro plus in a taxi).
The Disco Bus to Amnesia or Privilege is just 2.10 euro and a worthy source of banter and insider info to boot.

Another must-do is grabbing yourself a Spanish phrase book. It's a cliche but a little effort goes a long way and you'll earn respect from the locals just for trying. If you're looking to explore the more adventurous sides of the Ibiza island (or anywhere that isn't a pure tourist trap) some choice phrases aren't just a conscientious gesture - but a necessity.

Planning on waxing your credit card? It can be a dangerous game on Ibiza island soil but if it's one you choose to play then make sure you have secondary ID on you. You'll need to this to complete the transaction.

The Ibiza Island Night life effervescence
For more than three decades, Ibiza Island houses after sunset, the Libertine and free of inhibitions parties of Europe. Clubs do not amazed proportions, or just by looks, but mostly through the atmosphere created by thousands of merry dancing on the parts house, trance and techno's Tiesto, Paul Van Dyk, Sasha, John Digweed, Armin Van Buuren, Roger Sanchez, Paul Oakenfold and David Guetta.

Many of the mega-party sites are taking place in the town of Sant Rafael, specifically in Privilege, officially the largest nightclub in the world. It is very likely to get lost in the crowd, because the place has a capacity of 10,000 people.

Big or rival Amnesia is located less than a kilometre away, club famous for parties with foam and highly appreciated by the locals. It is spectacular and paradise, of Sant Antoni, built in the form of a pyramid, with an interior like Celebi Colosseum.

When the atmosphere becomes too hot, the dance floor into a huge shower. The best recipe of success but seems to apply Space, in Ibiza, a club which could be heard, over time, all the great DJ in the world. Opened during the day, Space ensure, as far as the law allows the continuity of fun, a role that we shared with Pacha, the only major club in the "White Island, which is open all year. In the cool months, when tourists are few, Pacha assume the responsibility of the local in Friday night and Saturday.

The glory days of endless parties have little sunset in Ibiza Island, because of a recent rule that forces clubs to close the gates and the hours at which, until now, the parties were in heat. Although the night life has become almost a synonym for the name of the island, and authorities were forced to lead tourism at a different level, promoting, in particular, natural beauties and historical heritage, the desire to make Ibiza a family destination.
If you hit the road with children, move on to "Monumento a los Corsarios" in the city of Ibiza, an obelisk built in honor of Pirates who have protected the island against the attackers, in the XVIII century.

Artwork, which they say it would be unique in the world, was inaugurated in 1925. Past comes out of these places and better out at the Museum of Archeology, in whose rooms are artifacts from civilizations that had the chance: Phoenicians, Arabs, Romans... The museum is included in UNESCO heritage, as it is, in fact, much of Ibiza island, called "White Island" because of architecture.

In terms of geographical beauties, the notice system of underground galleries artificial lighting "Cova de Can Marca" in the city of Ibiza and caves "Her Fontanelles" (cave paintings), "Santa Caves Ibiza" (famous for Stalactite) or "Cova its Llegostes "(a natural cave, which opens onto a large aquarium and shelters). All the depth is "Puig des Molins Nekropolis, one of the largest and best preserved tombs underground in the world.

Golden sands and blue water
They say that young hippy, which have contributed to the popularity Ibiza island, they have been attracted by clubs or night life. Preferred to look at the sunset, seated on the sand, water and rocky shores, with frequent pine forests. Besides, the beaches of Ibiza Island are considered to be among the most spectacular of the Mediterranean.

Cavallet of Sant Jordi, for example, is the largest nudist beach in the area, but should not be a nudist to stay here. There is a special region where Friday was tan ordinary families with children, and another, grasping for gay couples. Due to large waves, Cavallet It is increasingly appreciated and practitioners of extreme sports, like Las Salinas Beach, south of the Ibiza island.

In hot months, the newest music from speakers vibrate premises, and young people Friday to be watching or be admirer. There are, however, and quiet beaches, mostly in the north. At the beginning of the summer season, the Xarracca, Rencli of S'illot or Xuclar, for example, you will not see more than two or three people.

Cheap Eats in Ibiza Island
Survey the endless eggs/sausage/ omelette signs that run alog the San Antonio fountains and you'd be forgiven for thinking you're destined to eat greasy spoon food unless you're prepared to wedge it. But it's not necessarily so.

Head to David's Pizzeria on the main road running parallel to the Sunset Strip and get your laughing gear around a starter, one of San An's finest pizzas, a desert, a beer and a shot for just 12 euros. It's hard to argue with that!

If you're looking for burgers then our most recommendation is the Pennsylvania Burger, just off San An's West End. Around 7 euros will bag you an all-singing, all-dancing special stuffed with bacon, cheese, gherkins - the works. Best burgers bar none on this island.

For a more rustic sit-down experience bus it over to Ibiza Town and head to Bar Comidas S.Juan, opposite the Lo Cura bar on Calle Mont Gri. With their seat-next-to-strangers policy, cosy but busttling ambience and ridiculously affordable, tasty home-cooking (tow can eat starters and mains polishes off with a house red for just over 20 euros), it's a genuine treat although its popularity can cause queues of up to an hour.

Slightly less over subscribed but still lip-smack tasty is Can Costa, where you can get a hearty bean soup for around 2 euros whilst mains like steak on grilled squid with chips come in at 6-10 euros. Take a right when you reach Cafe Mary Sol and it's on the road running parallel to the port, just two doors before Attitude.

And make sure you save space for the Argentinean BBQ of El Parador, opposite the petrol station at the McDonalds roundabout on your way to Playa D'En Bossa. Everyone knows the Argentineans rule the roost when it comes to beef and it won't damage your pockets too hard either.

When The Sun Goes Down in Ibiza Island
Forget the clubs for a moment, if there's one experience that truly defines Ibiza island it's surely the sunset. If you're kicking off a big night out then the iconic Cafe Mambo on the Sunset Strip should be a first port of call for its convivial buzz and the communal cheering that flames up once that big orange ball finally dips under the horizon. An Ibiza institution, Mambo also regularly hosts DJs like Nic Fanciulli, James Zabiela, Pete Gooding and Pete Tong at their infamous pre-parties.

Also on the Sunset Strip, Cafe Savannah offers a more laidback, lazy vibe with pre-parties including Soul Heaven's Louie Vega & Friends on Sundays, Milk 'N' 2 Sugars on Mondays, and Pete Tong's Wonderland on Fridays. Their intimate back room is also home to many a voguish 4am session.

For a more classically chilled and Ibiza vibe, head to Cafe Del Mar where global chillout sounds will lull a slightly older and more cosmopolitan gathering over the horizon. Or if you're looking for a more cosmic experience check out Kumharas. Tucked carefully and somewhat incongruously on San An bay, Kumharas is a hippies' heaven with a seriously laidback vibe, lush beats and occasional fire-jugglers getting you horizontal of body and mind.

Warm-ups and Pre-Parties
As the Ibiza island offers more variety than ever, its bar culture compliments Ibiza's club monarchy. If you've over San An way then one of your first ports of call should be Plastik, on Avenida Dr Fleming. Responsible for bringing a touch of style to San An, Plastik will be hosting pre-parties for both Pete Tong's Wonderland and Judge Jules' Judgement Sundays with big name guests dropping in for sets. On other nights you'll find stock sounds of the soulful house and cheeky electro vibe and a fun dressed-up crowd to match.

Manumission's Bar M might not be the home of Ibiza Rocks this year but it's still a cool bayside hangout, whilst the Ibiza Rocks Hotel itself will also be the sight of much mayhem with nightly gigs from upcoming acts, with the weekly Ibiza Rocks 'Reclaim The Night' after-parties and occasional comedy nights also scheduled there.

At the top end of the West End, Viva is the workers hang-out of choice and at only 1 euro a pint for them, it's not hard to see why. It's open decks each night too so if you're a budding DJ get down there with a mix CD post-haste.

Of course, if you want to shoot the breeze and vodka limons in slightly classier environs then a night set against the winking moonlit waters of Ibiza Town's port should never be overlooked.
Streaming past the buzz carnival of sights, sounds and drags queens, head to the far and where you'll find The Base Bar. An unofficial hangout for industry Brits, beautiful young sorts and trendy pace-setters, it's always energetically buzzing and fun.

Tucked inside Ibiza Town and carved into the rock up behind Calle De Virgin, Noctambula is a particular pre-party favourite with a soundtrack of seductive minimal and chic techno ensuring the cooler cats come to sip and slide.

Down the road to Figuerettes, be sure to save a space in your debauch diary for the slick art-deco hotel of Es Vive, where afternoon pool party sessions are planned from Mark Wilkinson's Kidology and Mark Doyle's Fierce Angels before they move into the hotel's intimate late bar for some nocturnal naughtiness.

When you go to Ibiza Island and tariff?
Tourist season begins in May and keep up in October, but their clubs come in bread, usually only in June and remain active until the end of September - beginning of October. Best parties to take place and around major holidays - Easter, Christmas and New Year.

Statistically speaking, July is the most warm, while the poorest in rainfall. If we judge by the employment of hotels, August is preferred by most of the tourists, despite some higher tariffs. Almost all agency displays, in principle, prices between 500 and 800 euro per person for a stay of a week in a 3-4 star hotel, but those who managed to raise during the year amounts may be important a leave of 1700 euro. But you can find tours in a weekend to 250, even 200 euro / person.

And Chillax...
Reset and realign with some choice chillaxing. Unpick beneath the island's many layers and find hidden worlds within Ibiza's verdant wonderland. Just take Es Vedra. The rising and breath-stealing rock is both the third most mognetic force in the world and the perfect place to bring some gravity to a mangled mind.

It's best enjoyed from the pirate watchtower if you're hardy enough to find it, but can be seen from Calla D'Hort beach, where you can also get a sporadic boat to another one of the Ibiza's hidden beauties - the secret beach Atlantis. A natural formation of weird flat rocks, this bewitching hippy shrine is something many claim to have seen but only a few have actually enjoyed. Make the mission and you won't be left disappointed.

Of course, Ibiza Island has been a hippies heaven for as long as we can remember and the hippy market at Las Dalias is another lasting reminder. Buy small wooden trinkets, hemp jewellery or just soak up the chilled vibes.

If you can get hold of a car head North, where many a gasp-grabbing view will engulf your senses. Hesd to the island's Northern most point - San Juan - and prepare to be taken aback by what many call "The Real Ibiza".

Finally, if you're looking tor a true escape from the madness then head offshore to Formentera. Close in proximity, yet far in spirit, the white sands and deep blue seas will offer a washing hideaway from Ibiza's bustle.
